Roar for Orem High!

Thirty years ago, I was a High School senior performing with the Orem High School Symphonic Band in a roousing rendition of the school fight song. Last Thursday night - "Roar for Orem High reverberated again for 1000 current and former alumni of the school.

I made a guest appearance at the 50th Anniversary of Orem High School performing 4 numbers with the current orchestra. The evening brought back a myriad of memories - some wonderful (championship football, memorable proms, etc.) and others scary

The highlight of the evening was joining 400 other former choir members as we all sang "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" with 91-year old former A Cappella Choir director Ed Sandgren. I have perfromed with many professional choirs, bands, and orchestras through the years (including the Mormon Tabernacle Choir) but never felt this nervous before a gig. (I guess his intensity and demand for perfection during my high school years left some scares!)

Of course, seeing a myriad of old classmates, their children, and GRAND CHILDREN! made the experience even more memorable.
